AVA Aftercare — Shepherd and Halcyon bridge
This extension connects a veterinary hospital's own AVA Aftercare workspace to two systems the hospital already uses: Shepherd, its practice software, and the Halcyon Partner Portal, where cremations are requested. It is made for hospital staff and is useful only with an AVA Aftercare account.
What it reads
- On Shepherd patient pages (app.shepherd.vet): the patient's name, species, breed, sex, colour, date of birth, recorded weight, owner's name, the patient's Shepherd id, and the invoice lines that show a euthanasia charge.
- On the Halcyon Partner Portal (halcyondcms.com): the case tables on the dashboard, and the request form it is asked to fill.
It does not read any other website, and it does not read your browsing history.
Where that information goes
Only to the AVA Aftercare address entered in the extension's settings, authenticated with the API key the hospital created there. It is used to propose an aftercare case, show a case that already exists, fill the crematory's request form, and record a crematory's job number and status against the case. Nothing is created in AVA Aftercare, and nothing is submitted to Halcyon, until a person presses the button to do it.
The extension sends no information to its developer, to analytics or advertising services, or to anyone else. Nothing is sold, and nothing is used for any purpose other than the one above.
What it stores on your computer
The AVA Aftercare address and the API key, in the extension's own Chrome storage. Web pages, including Shepherd's and Halcyon's, cannot read them. Removing the extension deletes them.
Information held in AVA Aftercare
Cases created through the extension are part of the hospital's AVA Aftercare records, held and managed by the hospital, and are covered by the hospital's own policies.
